A Legacy That Lives On in Contemporary Architecture
about company
It is used in high-end projects where the quality of materials becomes part of the architectural concept and influences the perception of the building.
High-status material
Under the influence of the environment, the surface acquires a natural patina, retaining a refined appearance and highlighting its natural texture.
Natural aesthetics
Putilovsky stone has been in use for over three hundred years and has proven its durability in the Russian climate. Over time, the stone becomes even more expressive.
Time-tested
That is precisely why, for centuries, this stone has remained the choice of architects working on projects designed to last not merely for years, but for decades.
Reliability for decades
For more than 300 years, Putilovsky stone has been an integral part of St. Petersburg’s architectural heritage. Today, this remarkable natural stone finds new expression in contemporary architectural projects, where authenticity, distinctive character, and lasting durability are highly valued. JSC “KAMPES” is the sole manufacturer of products made from Putilovsky stone. The company operates its own quarry, oversees every stage of production — from quarrying and material selection to stone processing—and provides end-to-end project support, from choosing the right stone to manufacturing finished architectural elements.
Property status for developers
A material that influences the perception of the project’s class and sets the property apart during the sales phase
Technical specifications, a free sample, and project support—from stone selection to the finished products on-site
Full support for architects
Travertino, Oro di Pietro, Rosso Imperiale — for fireplaces, accent walls, and staircases
Accent solutions for designers
A material with a history that ages gracefully and remains part of the architectural heritage
For private clients — a legacy for the home
Four natural stone collections — four personalities
collections
All collections are sourced from a single deposit. The differences between them are determined by the natural characteristics of the stone stratum — specifically its color, density, and structure. As a result, each collection possesses a unique character and is suited to different architectural applications. Within a single collection, the colors feature a variety of shades.

GRIGIO IMPERIALE
Oro di Pietro
Rosso Imperiale
Travertino
collections / 01

GRIGIO IMPERIALE

Grey stone for facades is a material that complements a building’s form rather than competing with it. Grigio Imperiale serves as a backdrop, accentuating the facade’s geometry without drawing attention away from the overall design. It is an ideal choice for projects where prestige is conveyed through restraint rather than ornamentation.

Applications: facades, colonnades, courtyard paving, and plinths.

Oro di Pietro

collections / 02
A yellow stone for interiors and fireplaces. The rarest layer within the rock features a warm ochre tone, found in limited quantities at every level of the quarry. Oro di Pietro is designed for spaces where the stone serves as the central interior element. Limited extraction volumes make this collection a niche choice rather than a mass-market product.

Applications: fireplaces, interior accent walls, staircases, and decorative elements.

ROSSO IMPERIALE

collections / 03
Red stone for main entrances. This rich red shade defines a collection designed to stand out. It is used selectively — for main entrances, portals, or as a singular accent element on the façade. It is the ideal solution when the architect’s goal is to highlight the building’s main entrance without relying on paint or metal finishes.

Applications: main entrance areas, portals, and accent elements for both façades and interiors.

TRAVERTINO

collections / 04
Porous Putilovsky stone for facades and art installations. It excels where tactility and the interplay of light and shadow matter: the surface cavities create a dynamic play of light throughout the day. Its porous structure — a remnant of ancient marine deposits—is visible within the stone’s very texture. This collection is ideal for applications where surface character takes precedence over smoothness.

Applications: facades, interior accent surfaces, art installations, and small architectural forms.

A private Putilovsky stone quarry in Saint Petersburg

JSC KAMPES is the sole producer of Putilovsky stone products, operating its own quarry and a full production cycle utilizing modern processing technologies. The Putilovsky stone deposit is characterized by geological heterogeneity: while a grey-green hue forms the base of the deposit, rare ochre and pinkish-red layers occur within the strata, and in certain areas, the rock is porous and contains preserved fossils of ancient marine organisms.
The natural diversity found within a single stratum forms the basis of four collections: the gray tones are captured in Grigio Imperiale, ochre in Oro di Pietro, red hues in Rosso Imperiale, and the porous areas in Travertino. These collections were not conceived independently of the quarry; rather, they were derived directly from the characteristics of the stone itself.

For over 300 years, stone has shaped the city’s appearance: the Smolny Convent, the Bolshoy Gostiny Dvor, the restoration of the Peter and Paul Fortress, and the plinths and staircases of the historic center.
Peter I personally ordered the development of the quarry and brought in stonemasons from all over Russia to Putilovo—it was not without reason that people said all of St. Petersburg stands on Putilovo limestone.

Production and Quality Assurance
faq
We carry out extraction operations at our own Putilovo deposit in the Leningrad Region. Full control over the quarry guarantees the availability of stone volumes—even for large-scale architectural projects—without the risk of missing deadlines.
Putilovsky stone has a layered structure, so we carefully select blocks from the best, densest, and most decorative material, discarding loose layers at the extraction stage.
All quarried stone undergoes mandatory laboratory testing. We provide quality certificates, Class 1 radiation safety certificates (safe for interior use), and reports on physical-mechanical tests (strength, frost resistance).
Our workshop is equipped with modern sawing systems, wire saws, and high-precision CNC milling machines. This enables us to cut stone with millimeter-level precision.
No, as a manufacturer, we perform all types of finishing: from mirror polishing and matte honing to rough textures—such as bush-hammering (for outdoor slip resistance), artificial aging (antique finish), and split-face "rock" textures.
Natural Putilovo stone features elegant color transitions ranging from grey-green to pale yellow and pink hues. During the processing stage, we perform a preliminary dry layout and sort the slabs to ensure the stone’s pattern looks harmonious and cohesive at your site.
We handle the entire logistics cycle. The products are securely packed onto rigid wooden pallets and strapped down, then delivered to the site using specialized transport (including trucks equipped with loader cranes).
Yes, for architects and project designers, we produce reference samples in the required texture and size free of charge, so you can test them on-site and obtain client approval.
We stand behind the geometry and quality of every product. To ensure a flawless final result, we advise your builders on the selection of adhesives and the proper waterproofing treatment for Putilovsky stone.
